Escape the hustle and bustle of the congestion that is the busy thoroughfare of 125th Street. High atop the commotion is the Bayou. This restaurant redefines the word bayou --- no longer is the bayou the backwoods Cajun cuisine found only in the bowels of Louisiana. Now the Bayou is a light and airy sophisticated sanctuary found in Harlem USA. Do not fret however, the cuisine is the real deal, the distinct spices of the former definition are still rampant in the wonderful dishes that grace the menu.

The "pooboy" sandwich - translation - fish on a bun, was a scrumptious treat. After taking in the delightfully authentic ambiance and cuisine, my mind wandered as I looked onto the city from a nearby window. President Clinton was here! Maybe he sat in my chair?! What a thought, right here in the middle of Harlem, at the Bayou, of all the restaurants, the leader of the free world chose to dine. Heck if you're looking for fine dining what's a better recommendation than that!
