Sisters, a Jamaican restaurant located in the Mount Morris
Park area of Harlem, takes a tried and tested menu of
traditional Jamaican Restaurants and couples it with an
aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The soft rose tones and
modern furniture, the creative yet tasteful menu, all culminate
in producing a dining experience that balances "from your
mother's kitchen" flavor with the service and décor of a great
restaurant.
On the menu you'll find Caribbean and Southern staple dishes
such as curried chicken, jerked chicken, curried goat and fried
chicken. I opted for the curried chicken, and selected rice and
peas, and plantains as my sides. If you like spicy food, this is
the place to go! The chicken was flavored with the potent scotch
bonnet pepper, which added that extra "kick". The faint of taste
buds need not apply. The sweet plantains were fried to
perfection, and the coconut flavored rice and peas rounded out a
perfect meal.
As a person who eats out regularly, I strongly recommend this
restaurant. Sisters offers a quaint, clean atmosphere,
reasonable prices and excellent service. I consider this
restaurant one of Harlem’s best kept secrets.
