In the wake of the 8th Ave transition to Frederick Douglas Boulevard, there are many new treasures to discover. The most beat down part of town is getting on the map with new eateries, health food stores, spas and high-octane housing. In the spirit of the ‹comeuppinsŠ, you will find the new kid on the block, Society.

Society is a hybrid of Starbucks, Au Eon Pan, and the Internet Cafe with a little soul. There will be no alternative to this new account. It is in a class by itself with no comparison for the experience in Harlem. If you are looking for the soul food joint, this is not the place. If you want cheap greasy take out, it will not be here. If you want to nibble and mingle with the new Harlem Yuppies, then this is your destination.

This spot has a reasonable white and red wine list with a couple of sparkling selections available by the glass or bottle. Cheese platters, panninis, soups, pizzas, and salads and small entrees make passing the time sipping wine more interesting.

Try the assorted coffees, teas, smoothies and fresh juices if the wine list does not grab you. There are also fresh breads, muffins pies, cakes, cookies and waffles to play shotgun to the fragrant hot beverages. Shots of espresso, CafŽ Au Lait, cappuccino and even white chocolate hot chocolate fill the room with a good scent.

Look to be pleased by the warm decor with scented candles everywhere and hardwood tables, and new artwork. This place is a diamond on a coal block.
